i don't know that gps functionality is that huge of a deal maker or breaker. i thought it was cool to possibly have gps and the barimetric altimeter is supposed to be really accurate for elevations; and can you overlay your route on to gmap or google earth with the 305? not possible with 720i.

it would seem to me, that if i were interested in HR training, that the Polar would really be the way to go. i really can't put my finger on exactly what it is about the edge 305 that i really like. maybe i feel it's just cool to have the gps??? that's really for me to figure out, but i did want to get some responses from people who have one or the other, why they like them, and then try to make a decision.

i think that, from what i've read about the 305, that cross-talk with other wireless devices isn't that big of a problem; once you get the 305 and HRM talking to each other, there's not any interference with other things.

does the 720i lose signal a lot around high power lines or areas of satellite tv dishes, other wireless devices?

what about the 305, signal loss should be pretty much nonexistant if you can keep at least 3-4 sats. in view?

thanks, karen.
