First off, congrats on your purchase of a fine Pinarello. I watched that one on ebay myself. The bike has obviously been repainted and decals replaced so its gonna be hard to determine which model it is.

Answer to question #1: I have not found anything on the web yet to track down Pinarello serial numbers. Bulgiers website has some Pinarello catalog scans that may help identify your bike from frame details. http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalogs/

Answer to question #2: Depending on the year of the frame, yes, Super Record was top of the line until about 1984-85.

FYI, the four non-hollow links on that chain are so you can use a chain tool to change the length of the chain.
