Why do you need to spend $1000 on a frame anyway? When I was racing, I don't think I ever paid more than $400 for a frame, and I took those to nationals and everything. There are plenty of light, stiff, race geometry frames out there for less than $1000. Heck, many of the Cat 1 racers I see are on inexpensive frames their sponsors give them.
