I understand where you're coming from, and I personally try to be sensitive to that issue, but in general I don't agree with the idea that real-life events should have "spoiler" protection.
It's like, if you taped the Super Bowl because you had to work when it was on, don't go into a sports bar on your way home from work. Maybe a cycling forum isn't the best place to visit if you're trying not to know what happened in a cycling event.
It's not the same as giving away the ending to a current movie or novel; those are fiction, designed as entertainment, and what happens in them can't be changed or controlled, and the people they happen to aren't real.
Just my opinion, but I think some things you just have to assume responsibility for yourself.
