Terrific morning commute, though a tad scary.
I rode the Lotus road bike into work for the first time and my plan was to ride the Springwater trail because I have yet to install lights and mirror. When it came time to turn off for the trail, though, I opted instead to continue on my normal route. I quickly found that I really missed having a mirror, and a few motorists came awfully close as they passed. Traffic as a whole seemed to be in more of a rush, but this could have been a psychological thing.
At lunchtime, I got the urge to hit the trail after all. I wolfed a sandwich and went for a seven-miler just for a change of pace. First time I've ever done that, and it may become a habit!
It occurred to me as I rode the trail that a mirror on a path designated for non-motorized traffic could be more beneficial than on the road. Bikes make a lot less noise from behind than autos do. No problems this time around; it was just something that I thought of as I passed pedestrians and other cyclists taking their rests on the side of the path.
