I believe the tingling feeling is due to a nerve response.

It's not a bad feeling at all. In fact, it is very pleasing. Kind of like when someone tells you a story and you get the chills and goosebumps . . . I just had a hard hill work day yesterday morning, and late yesterday evening I got the feeling again while lying in bed watching some TV. I thought of it as a personal massage therapist living under my skin
