I was doing my usual commute to work yesterday but there was some road construction being done that I wasn't aware of. I was forced to ride up on the sidewalk at one point to get around it and little did I know that a huge tree root was sticking up from the sidewalk just beyond a downhill dip. I hit it at about 17 mph and flipped over the handlebars and landed on my back. I was wearing a backpack which absorbed most of the impact. Both elbows were scraped up pretty badly and my lower back had contusions and abrasions. I felt dizzy and I had a bad headache and I felt like I couldn't get up. An old lady comes out on her front porch and says that I should get off her lawn or she will turn the hose on me. I couldn't move so she takes out her hose and starts spraying me. Well actually I feel a little better and I'm able to get up and inspect my bike. The front tire is flat and the wheel is horribly bent. I have to ride all the way to work by doing a wheelie and riding on my back tire. What a day.
