Actually, I was basically trying to describe the guy. I could have mentioned his age, his ethnicity, but someone may have objective. A doofus is a doofus, whether he wears a helmet or not. If he were driving a car the wrong way, he'd still be a doofus.

BTW, after 35 years of riding, I finally bought my first helmet because of close calls with doofus drivers. (edit: I did it for my riding. I don't believe helmets, both bicycle or motorcycle should be mandated).

(and yes, I have my doofus moments too. This was not one of them).
