In my opinion BMI is a dodgy indicator & not really of any use bar a rough guide for the couch potato. For one thing with muscle weighing more than fat you can be lean & muscled & still have a BMI that indicates you are overweight. It also does not take into account any level of fitness, nor body type etc.

But it makes for easy, simple to calculate stats for shows like ACA etc to quote so their learned viewers can understand.
