BMI is a statistical generalisation, thoroughly thought out true enuf, but it's a generalisation all the same. At the end of the day it's a handy ready reckoner for quacks to use when consulting with patients who are carrying too much non-muscular weight. They clearly wouldn't use the BMI index as a guide for a 5'2 bodybuilder who weighs in at 100kg+

And nor should you. In fact forget the bloody BMI and look in the mirror. When you start to look chiselled your body fat ratio will be approaching the 'good' range. When you start to look gaunt in the face you might be overdoing it.
