None of you cared for my last thread regarding gear cable housing
I guess I will just have to find out when I get it whether or not I can/should use it
Now it is time for me to ask about brake housing.
I understand the differences between the two types of housings, sort of
What I need to know is if it is OK to use Campy brake housing with non-Campy brakes?
This housing is said to be NR/SR cable housing. I guess that would make it a product of the late 60's and into 70's
I have Universal Mod 61 centerpulls. The black housing is not in perfect shape in spots and I would like to switch out.
I can't find orange housing to match my cork tape.
This Campy housing looks pretty cool, is cheap, and is still vintage ..and it's Campagnolo.
Will there be dimensional differences that make this housing unsuitable for other cables? I figure all brake cable is basically the same size. Length issues?
I am pretty handy with a dremel so I could cut it to length, if needed. If they aren't long enough that could be a problem, though. I could even take off the ferrules and reglue them so it looks proper if a cut were needed
On the Universals there is the little adjustment knob on the top where the housing inserts
These ferrules too wide to fit inside? Looks close, I don't know. I could just butt them against (may look odd) or take one ferrule off. If they're thick enough metal I could even sand them down to size, chrome plate and place inside.
Any big things to be careful of?
