What is a "Speed Cyclist"

I have a friend from Bermuda who speaks of a co-worker that is a "Speed Cyclist".

There are several subtle language differences between US English and Bermudian English. For example, a "Bike" means "Motor Scooter" over there and when you want a bicycle you refer to it as a "Pedal Bike".

So, help me out. Does "Speed Cyclist" refer to a "Road Cyclist" or something different?

Thanks,

C
