I've been toting my Macbook pro in an Arkel Commuter for about four months, and its been fine. I still wince a bit when I hit a bad pothole, but from what I have read, all modern laptop hard drives use a 'landing zone' when powered down that will prevent a head crash due to vibration or shock.
