Repeat after me... "there is nothing wrong with Sora Shifters". You can shift from the drops or hoods (at least I can) and they will taks 1000's of miles to wear out. maximum01's points about the longevity of the deraileurs is valid, but the stuff is stilll very good value for money.

I have two bikes worth of Sora, the second bike was built after more than 3 years experience with the group, ridden whilst commuting and training. It won't slow you down
