I have read on this forum and elsewhere that the TTT was not included this year because it gave strong teams to much of an advantage. They were able to increase the team leaders position in GC with a strong TTT. Example would be Postal/Disco.
If it's all about $$$, then why remove on of the funnest events to watch? I'm not saying the TTT was removed to hurt Landis. It was an example of how the governing body can use it's discresion to manipulate an outcome.
Anothe example would be to have 6 ITT's in the TdF that are laid out in a way that would benefit a particular team that has good time trialists. Or more flat stages to benefit a team with a great sprinter, a lot more mountains for a team that has great climbers..... See what I'm getting at?
Where does it end?
