I did ride some on Parker Road. Once you get a few miles North of Franktown, the shoulder widens, but it's loud. South of that point was the most unpleasant part of my ride - traffic and narrow shoulders. I picked up the Cherry Creek Trail a few miles North of the widening shoulder, and took that to the Cherry Creek State Park.
The trails are nice. You can get a map on the Bicycle Colorado website. You should get to know them.
