If you are not doing big drops then full suspension will be a waste of money. Depending on how light you want check out the Aluminum Trek's. I love 3700 but only use it for light to medium trails and some paved. At least it would be a good starting point for you to check out and get an idea of what you want/need. Hit your LBS and ride everything that catches your eye.
