I think that the Ultimate had to overcome not only the carbon stays but also the narrow wheelbase that resulted from the cut downtube and resulting 'tuck' > I own an '04 Ultimate (essentially the same model as the '05) which I bought used. If it wasn't such a great deal I probably would be hesitant to buy into the unique styling AND carbon stays.
The ad for the Ultimate says 'watch for this model in the sprints'
I feel good on it. I like the geometry.
And most of all it fits me.
If you ride a 59cm you can hop on mine anytime.

Have the you checked out the Merlin's that Higher Gear has?
