There are many great rides in the area, along the Bay, the Sawyer Camp Trail, Canada Road, etc. A quick websearch will turn up many sites with routes. Good luck and happy riding.
Sawyer camp is a multi use trail...nice trail but you have to keep the speed down. canada road is a nice warm up. the marriott is right off of 101 and 92, take 92 west and get off on the half moon bay exit and park on the road that paralells 280...its the start of canada road and ride south.
I'm pretty sure cyclepath does not rent bikes, try:

starting at 7pm does not leave you with much time before sunset. at the south end of canada road is woodside, turn left and you can head towards palo alto, or head for the climb!
