well I think a liberal arts degree is great preparation for adult life. This country has been run by business majors and techies for the last 30 years, and look at the pickle we're in!

But it's a little late to be telling the dude what to major in, when he's already graduating. So my advice is to live where you like the people, maybe near your family and old friends. You can make carfree work just about anywhere if you're smart enough to graduate from a university.
