You mean like Lemond? (bought by Trek) Do Bontrager's components suck because they were bought by Trek too? I've got a 2006 Fastback Sport, bought for a total of 625, tiagra/105, elita crank, etc. Its as well-built as the Specialized Allez Sport (not that the Specialized is anything to boast about). I don't see Schwinn making any less of a bike than other mainstream builders out there. Most aluminum frames are built in Taiwan, so there's probably just a few big suppliers there that put everything together for the bike companies anyway.
