That sounds like a VAR #393. I don't know why they'd be cheaper here when they come from over there. The Stronglight threads are slightly over 23mm. You got away with it, but it could have been a disaster! They're really hard to find right now, but I checked the latest VAR catalog and it appears that they're still making them.
