Not to hijack your thread lad, but why is it that people treat cyclists with contempt? Last weekend I was stopped on the side of the road with some serious machanical difficulties, most people slowed down to look, honked their horn and drove on. Some of the little bastards in the back seats grinned at me.

I've noticed that if I am in full cycing kit (jerseys and spandex) the hate really comes out. If I wear just a cotton T-shirt with 'normal' shorts, I find I get much more respect.
