Better than a LED, at least better than the LED I tried last year, I understand they have gotten better. Candles on a windy day compared to HID lights, but they have the advantage of never needing batteries, or running out of juice. I'm running a B&M light, it's a 3 watt halogen light, it does ok. I regularly travel down a mile of dirt road in the dark and have no problem. On the open road it is also adequate. One day I may upgrade the hub and use a 2 light system, but for now the one does well enough.
