chain suck, new bits

ok, a serious mechanical question, just kinda of looking for a fresh perspective:
wifes bike has 105 ft and rear mechs, a sram pc 68 chain, sugino chainrings, 48, 34, 26, and a sunrace freewheel, 7 spd. she keeps getting chain suck when shifting to the granny, which i initially attributed to her lack of shifting prowess, but i tried it, to the same results. i know what your thinking: needs a new chain, or new rings, but this is the bikes first season, with well under 1000 miles, and constant prolink chain flushes...ect ect. the only thing i figure is that the chain is too narrow, or the chainring spacing is off, and so it jams between the granny and the middle ring. oh, friction shifting, and limits look good, if not great. whaddya think? oh, and i have the same set up, more or less, and have no issues, with maybe 2 times the miles.
