from the pic it looks like it will need a new chain, cog set, and probably a chain ring (i shudder at the thought of what she did to the bottom bracket)...you may find rusty spokes as well and the freewheel may seize up shortly as well

My hobby is buying used bikes at garage sales. I think jm01 is right on. I would not offer more than $20, if anything. If the cassette is rusty and the chain is certainly gone, your looking at a $45 parts cost plus your time and that assumes you have the tools to complete the repairs. I paid $20 for a Bianchi MTB that looked to be about the same except the rear wheel had no rust and the freewheel appears to be in good shape. Also that bike is older than 5 years old.
