Here's a simpler option: Buy another set of thinner wheels complete with a cassette/freewheel gearset mounted (maybe not road bike thin, but thinner) and put smooth, high pressure tires on them. You'll gain speed because of less rotating mass (if the wheels are appreciably lighter) and less rolling resistance. Swap the wheels depending on what kind of riding you want to do that day. You'll still have the comfy "minivan" ride and upright position of the 7300. And you'll have...

I have known a few hybrid owners who did so and were happy with the result. I made the leap to a road bike instead but that's just me.
One thing I did to my 7200 was add mountain bike style bar ends to the handlebars to allow a change of position to a somewhat lower stance. Try that too.
