Gee, I must be lucky. Aside from being slighly grazed in a vehicular assault late last winter, I haven't even had a minor incident, even though I rode more than 6000 miles this summer.
As far as Willic's run-in with a novagenerian, yes, it would be hard to get mad at such a motorist, but reporting her to the police may save her from actually killing somebody (and possibly even herself) in her next mishap. I know that elderly people cherish their mobility, but at some point everybody has to stop driving. I finally convinced my 71 year old mother to stop driving, due to the macular degeneration she suffers from. It wasn't easy, but after she managed to run her car into a restaurant, she finally agreed. My father, who is 75, seems to still be fine with driving though.
