Weird noise in the rear wheel
This is going to take a bit of explaining, but I'll try to keep the story short.
This morning on the way to work, riding down the hill on Franklin between 7th and 9th-- where the street is currently ripped up and quite bumpy-- I dropped my chain, and it got caught between the cog and hub. I'd actually say this is very lucky, as it helped me skid to a stop, riding brakeless downhill. Getting the chain out of this jam took some serious elbow grease (my shorts were my rag... gross), and after that, my cog was slipping, so I couldn't even work today. Scared the **** out of me because I thought I'd stripped the hub and that's what had caused the chain to drop. But as it turns out (I took it to Rowlett's later and they fixed it for me <3), the lockring had come loose so my cog wasn't held on tight. So that problem out of the way, I noticed that the inner side of the cog is scraped/scratched/chunked a little, probably from where the chain was jammed. Now when I ride, the rear wheel makes a strange chng-chng-chng/rnk-rnk-rnk (tried all day to find a decent onomatopoeia for this) noise. I'm worried that this is from where I seem to have damaged my cog this morning... that, or the chain is f'ed up.
Anyone have any ideas?
Edit: PS: Some spokes on that side of wheel, right at the hub, are all bent to hell now, but the wheel is still relatively true. Guess I should still go with 666pack's advice?
