At that temperature, I figured out pretty quick that layers weren't really going to end up being a good thing. I went with an
Alert Shirt instead. It is perfect for visibility day or night, and the wicking material works extremely well. They aren't pricey either, so getting a few for rotation is definitely doable. Mine have held up really well over the course of two seasons.
