A year of pure pain? You must've adjusted it wrong. The last 2 Brooks saddles I bought (B66, and Team Professional) were more comfortable straight out of the box than any plastic saddle made. In the case of the Team Pro, it just keeps getting better.
Of course, if you weigh 250 lbs, and you try to cheap out an extra $5 by buying the B17narrow over the B17 (neither of which I consider to be a terribly comfortable model, BTW), it will be painful.
