Because it disagrees with you does not mean it is bogus. Any "funding" from the food industry does not make it invalid any more than does funding of the BMI from insurance companies and a vested government make it completely valid.

FWIW, BMI is a reasonable surrogate for "fatness" for most folks. It's not a perfect measure by any means, but has been clearly identified as being associated with increased mortality due to heart disease, cancer, etc.
Why not be up front and honest and tell the folks that (as I remember) you sell software for training based on the BMI?

I think few folks would disagree that increased "fatness" results in greater morbidity and mortality. I certainly wouldn't. The problem (as we have discussed many times before) is that the BMI has become some sort of "sacred number" for insurance companies, MD's, magazine articles, the general public and others with sometimes NO consideration for individual differences in body composition, muscularity and the like.

Which is the only point I have been trying to make - see my original statement.
