First of all, hello everyone - longtime lurker here who just got his first road bike. After years of tooling around on Specialized Hardrock mountain bike that I sort of convereted into hybrid, I am extremely excited to be joining the skinny-tired crew here.
Here's a not too great picture of the new bike (Lemond Croix de Fer)
Now, onto my questions...
I did my first longish ride yesterday (25 miles) and I was carrying a multi-tool and the Tire and Tool Repair Kit from Park Tool. I also had a hand pump (not CO2).
Do most people carry more than this for a few hours out on the road? Mainly I am wondering if I should be carrying a spare tube as well?
PS If anyone can point me to a good web site that offers a simple list of routine weekly/daily maintenance I should be doing, I'd appreciate it. I let my mountain bike get into terrible shape over the years, and I'd rather avoid that with the road bike. I keep seeing things like lube and degreasing mentioned, but I must admit I am not too sure what I am supposed to be doing.
