I spent a week and a half in Germany, this past June, riding with a buddy who's living there. We went out on 4 hour rides 4 times a week, which were what he called 'The Tour of Water Fountains'. He only used one .75L bottle, the other cage held a spare tire. So the route was planned on where he knew there were fountain.
This was in 25-30° C weather.
