Unfortunately I ate TWO LARGE PLATES of that chicken rice. I was hungry!! But even as I was eating it, I couldn't help but think that the rice tasted very dry and a bit "off". It's the only thing I can think of which would have caused a problem. The ride had been going well to that point, and to that point I had been eating my usual riding foods (i.e. various packaged cereal-type bars and bananas) ... nothing unusual or different at all. I had been consuming enough food, enough liquid, and enough electrolytes ...... but after that chicken rice ...... BLECK!!

This is one reason I am a very picky eater while on the bike. I got sick 113 miles into a 400K brevet earlier this year because of roadside food. I suffered for 30 miles and then started to feel better. After that experience I promised myself to stick to my established diet while riding.
