Gitane Tour De France-- Gitane's top model, according to this seller-- in need of restoration, and all he wants is $350.
So I sent him a message about where the TDF stands in the Gitane line-up, along with some realistic pricing info. Here's his response:
You are wrong about the price. A TDF frameset alone in perfect
condition sells for more than than $200 from personal
experience. A SC will sell for more than that, what with the
Campy drop-outs and better craftsmanship on the brazing. If
this bike takes six more months to sell on my store at this price
then so be it. But it will sell for $350 - that's a given!
Interesting...He does know about Super Corsas, and yet he claims to "believe" that the TDF is the top of the line.
