I don't think the weight of a frame is much of a factor when you are a clydesdale. I have an old steel frame and it's a bit whippy when I jump on it. I also have a Lemond Steel Carbon Fiber bike and it's stiff but not harsh. Clydesdales worry about things like the amount of spokes on their wheels but I believe the manufacturers over build these componants.
