I really hate to think that it matters to anyone. TIG welding is pretty much the same process no matter where you go, and the "quality difference" between the two becomes even more marginal when you're using good steel as a control.
For some, it's not the quality of the welds so much as it is the quality of the work environment provided for those doing the work. That's not to say that Taiwanese manufacture = sweatshop labor, but a lack of transparency in the manufacturing process is something that tends to raise eyebrows.
