I half agree with you

I use an ibex softshell, and an mec ferrata myself for non downpours. But if you look at the scale of breathabilty of materials, event is a lot better than many of the softshell materials available today. The fact that someone can wear a w/b and still be better than half the crap sold as a softshell is a good testamanet to the functionality of it. As slvoid says, winstopper and goretex are the same base material, and a lot of people buy it as a softshell.

Personally when i wear a hardshell, i wear the most breathable made (event) and when i wear a softshell I also wear the most breathable made (dryskin).
