problem with this is the person who saw them cut the lock, leave the note, and haul the bike off could in turn go and claim the bike as they could probably describe it.
i used to live in forest hills and regularly ride over there - man i miss ny. also used to do some mtnbiking in forest hills park and then at a place out past st. john's. cross a few roads between wooded sections and you ended up out on the greenway or greenpath or whatever it was called. loved being able to tide out of my door in f'hills and hit the trails w/o having to use the car.
