iridetitus, someone could have gone and claimed the bike on their own anyway since all they asked me to do was describe the bike. At the end the guy asked me for ID, but all he did was glance at it. Maybe the mere request for an ID would scare someone away though. BTW, I live in Forest Hills, right where the LIE and the GCP meet, across from Flushing Meadow Lake. Where is Forest Hills Park?
queens blvd to ascan ave - head south. cross austin street and keep going until you dead end into metropolitan. right and quick left on to 72nd. go to the end of the street. right in that area is a day care, horse stables, neighborhood, etc. can get into the park in that area through an underpass where the equestrians cross into the park. from there is a tight little singletrack trail up to left - short, super steep climb about 20' long. or go straight, but my loop started left.
great place to ride, ton's of trails, some drops, fastnflowy stuff, etc. used to be off limits to bikes but i rode out there at least three times per week and never saw the horse-mounted cops *in* the park. they usu stayed on the road through the park. and, uhh....lots of lonely cats lookin for other lonely cats if you know what i mean.
