How an ex-track sprinter/RB relates to cycling (sprints)
Granted my peak athletic days were 20 years ago in HS (as well as other things that peak at that age), and my sports where I excelled involved short burst of speed/quickness (100m dash, running back/safety and baseball middle IF). I'm still around my HS/College playing weight (180#) but I know my quick feet/speed has dimished (as well as my hairline).
Naturally for me atleast, I find my strength in cycling is short sprints where it uses the fast-twitch muscles. During interval/sprint training with club/race members, I'm usually towards the front/lead and during the few crits I've done this year, I was able to bridge gaps quicker than some of my teammates or competitors. If I had any strategy (read conditioning) or experience in crits, I'd imagine I could do better.
So my question is: Who else has the same background (sprinter) in running or other sports and finds sprinting on a bike their strength?
