Crouching down issue: looking over glasses

I'm a novice road cyclist. I haven't crouched down very low this summer, and am never in the drops, because my gut is still too big. But I've been losing weight steadily, and today, in the face of a disheartening headwind, I decided to suck it up, literally and figuratively, and got down into as aerodynamic a position as possible.

I went faster. Cool! I did it for ten minutes and felt no discomfort in my gut. Cool! But the curious thing is, my line of sight shifted up over the tops of my prescription glasses, making the foreground a bit less distinct. My frames are elongated somewhat in the pseudo-intellectual hipster manner, sure, but I can't imagine the lenses on normal glasses being high enough to cover my line of sight in my crouched down position on the bike.

Questions: Is this a common issue? Or am I simply not raising my head enough? Thing is, I couldn't really see myself raising my head that much more without incurring some serious neck pain. So what's the deal here?
