I used to try and alert peds so they know I'm coming. By now I've concluded that people can't ****ing handle the information. Half the time, they would turn around and, with their glorious coordination, step into my path as they turn. Or dance left and right like a fool.
Conclusion: if there's 50cm of space, I'll sneak up on them and bomb through without warning. At least their movement is more predictable if they have no idea what's going on.
