I agree with the idea of holding off. Equipment upgrades feel good but it is always the same old engine. I always thought it was totally unfair to be riding a $3500 bike with DA and see a person with a 1975 schwinn come roaring past me. I love great bike components but it didn't make me faster. I like the idea of getting really good wheels, finding the perfect seat to ride long rides on (100+) and quality shorts to spare the behind. In the meantime dream about "THE" bike of your dreams. I know I do. And sometime in the future I will get my third "perfect" bike. My first bike was a specialized allez with shimano 101 components. I rode about 10,000 miles before getting an Eddy Merckx ti bike. Than I bought a Merckx Team SC after 30,000miles.
