I think on most mechanical calipers the inside pad is adjustable. It should have sometype of allen screw or dial that will move it in or out to allow it to get close to the rotor after you center the caliper. But it does not move when you apply the brake.
That would be really neat, if I could figure out how to get that pad a bit closer to the rotor.
I am including a pic of the fitted diskbrake system. For you eagle-eyed mechanics: can you see a little mistake I made (which I am planning to fix soon)? If you notice the mistake, can you tell me if it's really a bad thing or not?
