You can't go wrong with a Dew, Armyrider - they're bulletproof and a bargain for the $$. If you want to upgrade the Dew later on, ditch the flat bars & shifters, add some drop bars with DiaCompe 287V levers and some bar-end shifters. That'll give you a true touring bike with road cred for virtually nothing after you resell your original parts on e-Bay. I agree with the "throw a dart" advice on entry-level MTBs. I bought my Specialized not because the bike was superior but because I liked the store (and its service). Happy Shopping!
