Beginner roadie from Wisconsin
Hello all!
I've biked since pretty much as far as I can remember, but just in the past two or so years I've been getting into cycling for fun and also the fitness espect.
Here's some Info about me.
My name is Jon, and I live in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
I've enjoyed biking for the past 5 years, though I biked before then.
Just in the past 2 - 3 years I've been getting out of mountain and BMX(though I never did it) riding and being more interested in road riding.
I have juvenile arthritis, which affects pretty much all of my joints (knuckles, wrists, elbows, shoulders, knees, etc) and I also had a bad snowboarding accident (2001) which messed up my spine.
I contribute those accidents to why I've been straying away from the types of riding that generally cause me to get injured.
I got a couple of driving tickets this spring and summer, which ended up in my drivers license being suspended for six months ('til feb 23rd, 2007).
I wouldn't mind biking during all of this time, but that means I'm going to not be able to drive during, what I consider, the worst weather in Wisconsin.
I just had my 18th birthday on the 12th and I got a Giant OCR2 as a present from my mom (I had to pay for extra stuff).
I've only put about 20 miles on it so far, but I'm planning on putting a ton more on it next spring and summer.
There's a problem with the front derailleur, but I still love it.
I don't know if there's anyone on here that lives in Eau Claire, but it'd be cool to meet someone from here and maybe go on a ride or something. Ofcourse, right now that probably wouldn't happen due to me working alot (lawn care) and finishing up high school.
Like I mentioned, I'm new to this side of the sport, so I'm probably gonna have alot of questions.
Fortunately, I'm familiar with using the search button on forums, and I won't ask repeated questions.
