We can certainly all agree that it's not really a brillant action for a cyclist to go after a motorist, no matter how provoked we as cyclists may be. That being said, I must admit to having retired one of my jerseys after a confrontation last summer. The motorist was at fault, I was going to let it go, he started yelling, the button was pushed and I yelled back, dropping the usual F-bombs and possibly insulting his mother. As he was a younger lad driving a clapped-out early-90s Oldsmobile, I figured anything was possible and had my cellphone ready. I was honestly expecting him to come back for me but I lucked out.
Lesson learned; I've been close to hit at least a dozen times since then and the most I've offered up was an angry (and loud), "HEY!" but usually I try to say nothing and just chalk it up to the blessing of getting out of another close call unscathed. What I really like is when I escape injury, say little or nothing, and have other motorists stick up for me by offering supportive comments, giving the offending party the finger, yelling at them on my behalf, etc. That's pretty cool
