I'm contemplating swapping my 10 speed triple (50/39/30) for a compact (50/34).
I am currently running an 11-32 in the back. I can actually make it up most hills here in CT. using the 39 and all of the low gears in the cassette. However, I still want the piece of mind that the lower gearing of the compact offers. My concern is with a 16 tooth jump not leaving me many overlapping gear combinations between the 50 and the 34.

So my question is this to you compact crank riders;

How many rear cogs do you use in a 10 speed cassette before having to shift to a different front ring ?
